What do Parents for Climate Action do?
Parents for Climate mobilises the power of parents to advocate for bold climate action. By activating parent leaders, hosting community events, and amplifying family-friendly climate messaging, the organisation builds visible, bipartisan support for climate solutions in key regions, ensuring the voices of parents and children are central to Australia’s future.
In the lead-up to the 2025 Federal Election, they are focusing on persuading political candidates to adopt ambitious climate policies and creating widespread, visible support in electorates pivotal to Australia’s climate agenda.
Why is this work important?
Parents are among the most trusted voices in society, with the potential to shape public opinion and political outcomes. With over 3 million Australian parents concerned about climate change, engaging this demographic can drive significant cultural and political shifts. By connecting climate solutions with issues like child health, safe housing, and cost of living, Parents for Climate ensures climate action resonates deeply and personally, making it a priority for voters and decision-makers alike.
How is Groundswell supporting this work?
Groundswell’s funding will enable Parents for Climate to expand their capacity and maximise impact during this critical election period. With this support, they will:
Engage and support 200 parent leaders to become advocates, with tools and training to build local movements.
Organise 50 community events reaching 5,000 attendees, including festivals, school activities, and local campaigns in key regions.
Leverage their #VoteLikeAParent campaign through yard signs, parent influencers, and targeted media, creating a high-visibility presence in marginal electorates.
Conduct direct advocacy and community events to engage candidates in focus seats, securing commitments to ambitious climate policies.
