What do Farmers for Climate Action do?
Farmers for Climate Action (FCA) are an 8000 strong network of farmers across Australia and one of the most influential climate groups in Australia and ideally positioned to seriously shift the dial on climate policy as our window to avoid the worst impacts of climate change rapidly closes.
Why is this work important?
Rural Australia is often positioned as resistant to climate action, which limits climate solutions and economic progress. FCA’s work is vital in reversing this narrative, using farmer voices—the most trusted messengers in rural areas—to reframe climate policy as beneficial for farmers and rural communities. By fostering a positive narrative around climate-smart practices and renewable energy, FCA supports the growth of resilient, future-focused agricultural communities while securing regional support for national climate action.
How is Groundswell supporting this work?
Groundswell’s funding will support FCA’s core organisational costs, primarily enabling FCA’s advocacy and engagement teams to continue essential grassroots outreach. With this funding, FCA will:
Facilitate critical face-to-face engagements between farmers and MPs, fostering personal connections that influence national climate policy;
Scale the Climate Smart Farming Toolkit and increase farmer membership, empowering more farmers to embrace climate-friendly practices;
Sustain FCA’s successful media model with Lockslie Consulting, ensuring that farmer-led climate messaging resonates across media channels and builds broader support for climate action.
